Salt & Fat: Fresh Tomato-Butter Sauce →

Today was an interesting Sunday. My rear left tire basically got stripped down to the axle and so I (along with my entire car full of people hitching a ride to church) had to pull over on the side of 101S while we waited for AAA to come by, because of course as fate would have it- My car had a useless jack and no wrench to pull off the bolts. Afterwards, while driving to the nearest Firestone, we spotted the Studio City farmer’s market and decided to hang out there while the shop worked on getting my car a new tire. Being in a pizza mood, I decided to pick up some heirloom tomatoes (which are awesome. Don’t let their poor hunchback-of-Notre-Dame looks deter you from eating one) with a recipe that I saw on a food blog I follow. My family would probably shake their heads saying it’s a waste of a good heirloom tomato, but who cares. I want my tomato sauce!

There’s still some summer left, right? It’s not too late to pick up some peak-o’-the-season tomatoes, is it? There’s no time to waste! Let’s make some tomato-butter sauce using fresh tomatoes this time. Then we can freeze it and enjoy it on January pasta or pizza.
